About the Department
The Department of Information Technology at NPR Arts & Science College is a distinctive hub in the field of collegiate education. The Department of Information Technology was established in 2006. It provides state-of-the-art computing facilities to students.
The Department organizes International and National Conferences, Seminars, Webinars, Interdepartmental Competitions, and Value-Added Courses. These activities provide a wide range of opportunities for faculty members and students to showcase their potential and innovative skills in various fields. The department also promotes active Industry–Institute collaboration.

Scope of the Programme
The Information Technology programme provides students with a strong foundation in computing, programming, networking, and modern IT technologies. It equips students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to solve real-world problems using information systems and software applications.
The programme prepares graduates for diverse career opportunities in areas such as software development, web development, database management, networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data analytics. Students can also pursue higher studies and research in advanced fields of Information Technology and Computer Science.
In addition, the programme enhances analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, teamwork, and communication skills, enabling graduates to adapt to the rapidly evolving IT industry and contribute effectively to technological innovation and organizational development.

- PO1: Disciplinary knowledge: Capable of demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and understanding of one or more disciplines that form a part of an undergraduate Programme of study
- PO2: Communication Skills: Ability to express thoughts and ideas effectively in writing and orally; Communicate with others using appropriate media; confidently share one‘s views and express herself/himself; demonstrate the ability to listen carefully, read and write analytically, and present complex information in a clear and concise manner to different groups.
- PO3: Critical thinking: Capability to apply analytic thought to a body of knowledge; analyse and evaluate evidence, arguments, claims, beliefs on the basis of empirical evidence; identify relevant assumptions or implications; formulate coherent arguments; critically evaluate practices, policies and theories by following scientific approach to knowledge development.
- PO4: Problem solving: Capacity to extrapolate from what one has learned and apply their competencies to solve different kinds of non-familiar problems, rather than replicate curriculum content knowledge; and apply one‘s learning to real life situations.

The students shall undergo the prescribed course of study for a period of not less than three academic year (Six semesters).
Medium of Instruction: English
