About the Department
The Department of Information Technology at NPR Arts & Science College is a distinctive hub in the field of collegiate education. The Department of Information Technology was established in 2006. It provides state-of-the-art computing facilities to students.
The Department organizes International and National Conferences, Seminars, Webinars, Interdepartmental Competitions, and Value-Added Courses. These activities provide a wide range of opportunities for faculty members and students to showcase their potential and innovative skills in various fields. The department also promotes active Industry–Institute collaboration.

Scope of the Programme
The Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) programme offered under the syllabus recommended by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE) and implemented by Madurai Kamaraj University aims to develop strong knowledge in commerce, accounting, business management, and entrepreneurship. The programme is designed under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to equip students with theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and employability competencies required in modern business and industry.
The B.Com curriculum covers core subjects such as Financial Accounting, Business Economics, Business Mathematics, Marketing, Business Law, Income Tax, Banking, Auditing, and Business Statistics. These subjects help students understand the functioning of trade, commerce, finance, and corporate organizations. The syllabus also integrates skill-based courses such as accounting software, information technology, and commerce practicals, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in modern business tools and digital applications

Capacity to extrapolate from what one has learned and apply their competencies to solve different kinds of non- familiar problems, rather than replicate curriculum content knowledge; and apply one’s learning to real life situations. -

Ability to evaluate the reliability and relevance of evidence; identify logical flaws and holes in the arguments of others; analyze and synthesize data from a variety of sources; draw valid conclusions and support them with evidence and examples, and addressing opposing viewpoints. -

A sense of inquiry and capability for asking relevant/appropriate questions, problem arising, synthesizing and articulating; Ability to recognise cause-and-effect relationships, define problems, formulate hypotheses, test hypotheses, analyse, interpret and draw conclusions from data, establish hypotheses, predict cause-and-effect relationships; ability to plan, execute and report the results of an experiment or investigation -
